Wow! What started as a small little piece of "homework" for our library summer reading program turned into quite a big deal here in Waupun. One of our tasks was to have a lemonade stand. The kids decided they would raise money for the Waupun Police Department to show support for all they do for our community. We even offered free lemonade to any police officer that stopped. Little did we know that it would turn into such a big deal. Mom posted a message to Facebook to spread the word and soon we had lots of visitors. We were most excited when a police officer pulled up for the free lemonade. Officer Fix was very kind and even brought goodie bags for the kids. He told us how much he appreciated the lemonade and then he would send his other officers to check us out. Later we had two more officer stop by and before the day was through one more came. We ended up even having people stop that didn't want Lemonade. (Just to donate to a good cause.) In the end, the kids raised $53.65! The kids were even mentioned on the radio program about showing acts of kindness. They are so proud of themselves and Ava is even planning for next year already. Kyle and I couldn't be prouder!
